Coping With Covid-19 Stress

Covid-19 didn’t just affect us physically but mentally too! It has been stressful for both children and adults. Social distancing, lockdowns, masks, along with other health measures implemented for our safety, have made us feel lonely and isolated. Stress can cause immense problems, including:

  • Sleeplessness or having nightmares
  • Strong feelings of frustration, fear, sadness, anger, or worry
  • Physical issues such as headaches, stomach problems, body pains, and even skin rashes
  • Deteriorated mental health
  • Chronic health problems get worse
  • Difficulty in making decisions or concentrating on work
  • Increased usage of alcohol, smoking, etc.
  • Changes in interests, appetite, or energy

It is only natural that you feel stressed during these times. However, learning to cope with stress is beneficial not just for you but for the people around you. Some healthy ways in which you can take care of your stress or help someone in your family manage their stress may be as follows:

  • Indulge in some activities – read a book, play with your pet, sit and watch a fun movie with your family, or play games with them
  • Mediate! Learn deep-breathing as it is one of the best ways to release stress and relax
  • Stay healthy by exercising and eating healthy.
  • Sleep for at least 8 hours. Sleep helps our mind and body heal.
  • You must continue with the preventive measures such as using masks, taking vaccine, visit your doctor at regular intervals, use sanitizer always, etc.
  • Stay connected to your friends and family. Talking to someone you trust is the best way to share your feelings. If required, get help from a professional mental health care provider.

Stress may not be uncommon, but these small points can help you overcome it.
